LPAC Health and Harmony Back-to-School Event: A Fun-Filled Day of Wellness and Community Engagement

On August 16, 2024, the Latino Pastoral Action Center (LPAC) hosted its annual Health and Harmony Back-to-School event, and it was nothing short of amazing! This wonderful community gathering in the Bronx brought together families to celebrate the beginning of the new school year, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement, support, and unity.

The day was packed with a variety of activities that catered to everyone in the community. Health screenings were provided, ensuring that families had access to essential health checks before the school year began. The kids, on the other hand, had a blast with fun activities, including a bouncy house that quickly became one of the event's main attractions.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the event was the way the community came together to support each other. Esteban Rivera, the Executive Director of LPAC, along with his wife Yolanda Rivera, played a pivotal role in this. Together, they distributed 100 bags of fresh produce, free clothing, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to families in need. Their dedication to the community was further demonstrated by the distribution of 150 backpacks filled with school supplies, ensuring that every child is equipped for a successful school year.

The event was made even more impactful by the participation of local organizations such as Marks Home Care, Metro Plus Health, and other health and wellness providers. Their presence provided families with valuable resources and information, reinforcing the importance of health and well-being as we embark on a new academic year.

The LPAC Health and Harmony Back-to-School event was not just a celebration; it was a testament to the strength and resilience of our community. Seeing everyone come together to support one another was truly inspiring and a beautiful reminder of the power of community.
