Super Saturday
Super Saturday brings families together—parent-child events, student showcases, exciting tournaments, and community celebrations all year long
Super Saturday is LPAC/FLACS Community Engagement Initiative weekly enrichment program for children ages 6–13, designed to help Bronx youth grow skills, character, and community—in a space that’s safe, joyful, and intentionally offline.
Each Saturday, students rotate through high-interest learning experiences that build confidence and discipline: chess, martial arts, crafts, and visual + digital arts. Every activity is purpose-built to strengthen real-world habits—focus, teamwork, creativity, perseverance, and leadership—while giving children a place to belong.
A core strength of Super Saturday is mentorship. The program is powered by six college student interns, including three FLACS alumni, who support instructors, lead activities, and serve as near-peer role models. Their presence adds consistency, encouragement, and guidance—helping students imagine what’s possible and stay motivated.
Super Saturday also invests in families. Parents and caregivers are welcomed into the life of the program through parent-child activities, trips, holiday and community celebrations, student exhibitions, tournaments, and community festivals—creating shared memories while strengthening family engagement.
To support healthy development, Super Saturday maintains limited technology access, giving children space to move, create, and connect without the constant pull of the virtual world. The result is a program that doesn’t just fill time—it builds a stronger child, a stronger family, and a stronger community.
